11:51 AM EST - Taiga Building Products Ltd. : reported net income for the first quarter of $5.5 million or $0.17 per share, compared to $6.6 million or $0.20 per share for the year-ago quarter. Net sales for the first quarter increased 19.2% to $294.4 million from $246.9 million last year, due to strong demand, higher commodity prices and very weak comparable sales performance in the prior period as a result of the international credit crisis. Selling, general and administrative expenses for the quarter rose to $12.9 million from $8.7 million a year ago. Taiga Building Products Ltd.
