11:56 AM EST - Barrick Gold Corp. : reported that its second-quarter net income was $783 million U.S. or $0.79 U.S. per share, up from $492 million U.S. or $0.56 U.S. per share in the same quarter last year. Adjusted net income rose to $759 million U.S. or $0.77 U.S. per basic share, from $431 million U.S. or $0.49 U.S. per basic share last year, reflecting higher production and sales in conjunction with higher realized gold prices. Sales rose to $2.642 billion U.S., from $1.965 billion U.S. in the year-ago quarter. Barrick Gold Corp.
