12:07 PM EST - Emergis Inc. : said on Friday that first-quarter profit surged 46 percent on lower expenses and a big jump in business at its health sector services unit. Emergis reported a net profit of $5.4 million, or 6 cents a share, for the quarter ended March 31. That is up from earnings of $3.7 million, or 4 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose 13 percent to $45.7 million. Analysts had expected earnings of 7 cents a share and revenue of $46 million, on average, according to Reuters Estimates. Emergis Inc.
