03:50 PM EST - Clearwater Seafoods Income Fund : reportedly is casting its eyes around the globe in search of companies that will increase the groundfish and shellfish quotas it controls, says the company's chief executive. Colin MacDonald said Tuesday that $48 million raised through sale of debentures earlier this year will be available for acquisitions, though FPI Ltd. (TSX:FPL) of St. John's, N.L., won't be one of the targets.MacDonald told unitholders during the company's annual meeting he's going to look for firms that control their own quotas. "We've always been a company that's seen the value in ownership of the resource, and ownership so that you can control the quality of the resource, the timing of the harvest and the sustainability of the resource," he said. "We also look for opportunities to expand our market presence.... So acquisitions that fit either of those two scopes, either in securing supply side or securing the market side would be where we're looking as a company." Clearwater Seafoods
