10:16 AM EST - Manulife Financial Corp. : said second-quarter earnings rose 15 percent, crediting record sales in a number of its businesses. Canada's biggest life insurer said net income was $1.1 billion in the three months ended June 30, or 71 cents a share. That was up from $959 million, or 60 cents a share, a year earlier. shares T.MFC are trading up 65 cents at $40.39.
