Oil futures higher on EIA data

Oil futures turned higher on Wednesday following weekly data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showing that crude supplies rose 400,000 barrels for the week ended Nov. 15.

Analysts polled by Platts were looking for a decline of 500,000 barrels, though Prestige Economics forecast a 1.4-million-barrel increase.

Gasoline supplies fell by 300,000 barrels, while distillate stockpiles dropped 4.8 million barrels, the EIA said. Gasoline stockpiles were expected to fall 150,000 barrels while distillate supplies were seen down 1.3 million barrels, according to the Platts poll.

Following the latest data, December crude traded at $93.44 U.S. a barrel, up 10 cents, or 0.1%, on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was trading lower at around $93.12 U.S. shortly before the report.
