AMC Movie Theatres To Accept Cryptocurrency Shib Inu As Payment

AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), the world's largest movie theatre chain, says it will begin accepting controversial cryptocurrency Shiba Inu as a form of payment in the next two to four months.

AMC, which began accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies for online payments last Friday (November 12), says it will be set-up to also accept Shiba Inu through BitPay wallets in 60 to 120 days.

BitPay provides payment processing services for various cryptocurrencies. Last week, AMC announced that it will also accept Dogecoin for the purchase of gift cards worth up to $200.

Both Shiba Inu and Dogecoin are controversial cryptocurrencies as they were started as a joke by developers and have no underlying utility or purpose. Regardless, their prices have risen sharply this year along with the broader market for digital coins and tokens.

Cryptocurrency prices are sharply lower today (November 16) with the price of Bitcoin down more than 5% at $60,436.23.
