Rogers Communication Appoints New Interim CEO

Rogers Communications (TSX:RCI.B) has appointed a new interim chief executive officer (CEO).

Joe Natale, who had been leading Rogers, has been replaced as CEO by Tony Staffieri, the company’s previous chief financial officer (CFO).

The leadership change comes less than two weeks after a family power struggle within the company was settled in court.

Edward Rogers, son of company founder Ted Rogers, battled with family members who sit on Rogers Communications board and other directors over the company’s future and the management team that would be in charge.

The dispute was settled on November 5 when a B.C. Supreme Court confirmed that Rogers was within his right as chair of the Rogers Control Trust to appoint the leadership team he wanted to run the company.

In a news release issued this week, Rogers' mother, Loretta Rogers, as well as his sisters Martha and Melinda, maintained their support of Joe Natale as CEO and said they opposed the decision to push out Natale, which they described as a "termination."
