Stellantis To Invest $3.6 Billion In Ontario Electric Vehicle Production

European automaker Stellantis (STLA) has announced that it will invest $3.6 billion to refurbish
two Ontario assembly plants to build electric vehicles, more than doubling an earlier

commitment made during union negotiations with Canadian autoworkers.

Stellantis, formed from the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group last year, will
add a new car platform that can be used to make electric vehicles at its plants in Windsor and
Brampton, Ontario, the company said in a written statement.

The investments will restore full employment at the two plants, which have suffered from
cutbacks in recent years.

The federal government in Ottawa and the provincial government in Ontario will spend up to $1
billion to support the electric vehicle manufacturing project.

Stellantis, whose brands include Jeep, Ram and Fiat, is investing $35 billion U.S. globally
through 2025 to enhance its vehicle electrification and software capabilities.

In March, Stellantis and LG Energy Solution said they would invest more than $4.1 billion U.S.
into a joint venture to build a new electric vehicle battery plant in Windsor, Ontario. The 45
gigawatt-hour factory, which is expected to begin operations in 2025, will create 2,500 jobs.

Both manufacturing plants in Ontario that Stellantis is refurbishing are expected to eventually
support three shifts per day, the company said.
