U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. (BA) says it has temporarily halted deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner due to a problem that has been detected with the airplane’s fuselage.
The company added that it won’t be able to resume deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner until it can demonstrate to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that it has resolved the issue.
However, production of the 787 Dreamliner is expected to continue while Boeing addresses the fuselage problem.
The 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which is often used for long-haul international flights, has experienced several issues in recent years.
In May 2021, Boeing halted deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner after the FAA determined there were issues with the manufacturer’s method for evaluating the aircraft.
In 2020, deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner were stopped for five months due to a separate issue with the fuselage.
In August 2022, Boeing delivered its first 787 Dreamliner since the latest delivery pause, providing the aircraft to American Airlines (AAL).
Also last year, United Airlines (UAL) ordered 100 787 Dreamliners from Boeing, with the option to purchase 100 more of the aircraft.
Boeing’s stock has risen 5% over the last 12 months to reach $208.13 U.S. per share.
