Toronto Stock Exchange At Highest Level In Three Weeks

The Toronto Stock Exchange has risen to its highest level in three weeks as investor concerns about a global banking crisis ease.

Canada's main stock index has been propelled higher in recent days by gains in energy and technology stocks.

The Toronto Stock Exchange closed yesterday (March 29) at 19,837.65, its fourth straight day of gains and its highest level since March 9 of this year.

Information technology stocks rose 1.5% as bond yields stabilized, while both energy and financial stocks listed on the exchange increased by 1%.

Lululemon (LULU) shares rose 13% and the stock of Dollarama (DOL) gained 2.5% as both companies reported strong quarterly earnings.

So far this year, the Toronto Stock Exchange is up 2% compared with a 5% gain in the benchmark S&P 500 index in the U.S.
