Tuesday's Stocks on the Move

South Korean e-commerce Giant Coupang (CPNG) is a stock on the move for Tuesday. Yesterday, CPNG stock fell by 5.11% when it provided Farfetch (FTCH), a UK-based luxury brand website, $500 million. Coupang gets assets at a massive discount. However, the deal does not strengthen Coupang’s core competency.

Richemont (CFRHF), which markets rumored would buy Farfetch until it denied it, is attractive. It will continue operating on Farfetch’s platform and ultimately benefit from the channel at no extra cost.

Analyst Dan Ives set a $4 trillion market cap target on Apple (AAPL). The bullish opinion does not take Masimo’s (MASI) ongoing patent dispute with Apple seriously. On Monday, Apple halted the Watch Ultra 2 and Watch Series 9 as of Dec. 21. Apple cited compliance with an International Trade Commission ruling in October. This might upset consumers. Massimo is disputing Apple Watch’s blood oxygen feature.

Apple is one of the magnificent 7 mega-cap firms whose shares are unlikely to fall. It has a strong legal team. It also has the cash on hand to offer a settlement.

In the mature business phase, IBM said it would buy Software AG’s StreamSets and WebMethods assets, which is majority owned by Silver Lake. This will cost EUR 2.13 billion in cash. StreamSets will add to IBM’s AI and data platform offering. webMethods gives customers more integration and API management tools in hybrid multi-cloud environments.
