New Article Details Illegal Drug Use By Tesla CEO Elon Musk

An article published in The Wall Street Journal newspaper details alleged illegal drug use by Tesla (TSLA) chief executive officer (CEO) Elon Musk, including LSD and cocaine.

According to the Journal, Musk is also a regular user of ecstasy, ketamine, and psychedelic mushrooms. The report has Tesla’s stock down about 1% in premarket trading.

In the article, Musk’s attorney, Alex Spiro, says that the Tesla CEO is “regularly and randomly drug tested at SpaceX and has never failed a test.”

The drug story is the latest controversy about Musk that could roil Tesla’s stock.

This past November, Musk tweeted anti-Semitic content that drew the ire of politicians and Jewish leaders. Musk strongly denied holding anti-Semitic beliefs in an interview on Nov. 29.

Several major companies, including Apple (AAPL) and Walt Disney (DIS), have withdrawn their advertising on social media platform X since Musk bought it in late 2022 over the various controversies involving the Tesla leader.

Tesla’s stock continues to be volatile. While it has risen 98% over the past 12 months, that gain comes after a steep selloff in 2022 that coincided with Musk buying the X social media platform.

Currently, Tesla’s stock is trading at $237.49 U.S. per share.
