Over the weekend, news leaked that Paramount (PARA) would entertain a buyout offer. Skydance is reportedly offering $15 a share for PARA Class B shares. It will pay $23 for the Class A shares (voting stock).
PARA stock closed at $22.14, up by $1.47 on Monday. The stock traded in a range of $18 - $26 in 2024.
Investors are holding out for an offer from Warner Bros Disc. (WBD). However, chances are low that this firm has the cash on hand to buy Paramount. Its priority is raising free cash flow and paying down its high debt levels.
In the AI chip sector, Nvidia (NVDA) gained 4.9% while AMD shares failed to join the rally. AMD announced AI CPUs that get more attention for its marketing than its AI capabilities. Nvidia launched a successor to Blackwell in 2026. This widens the distance between it and its competitors. Firms like Intel (INTC) and AMD are unable to offer AI performance that competes with Blackwell.
Firms that benefit from high electricity demands in AI are falling. Vistra (VST) lost 5.88% and continues to slip, after shares peaked at $107.24 on May 28, 2024.
