HP Teams Up With Siemens To Boost 3D Printing For Industrial Production And Product Development

HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) and Siemens have announced that they will be working together towards boosting 3D for industrial production as well as product development as part of their longstanding partnership.

The two firms are working towards accelerating 3D printing through a HP-certified Additive Manufacturing (AM) software module. The latter exist under the tagSiemens NX AM for HP Multi Jet Fusion and are currently available through Siemens PLM Software as part of Siemens’ end-to-end design-to-production solution for additive manufacturing. The NX software will make it possible for customers to create and manage parts for their HP 3D Printing projects within one software environment.

“HP and Siemens are bringing together the best in design and manufacturing workflow software for the best in 3D printing, unleashing a wave of new product possibilities with the speed, quality, and economics required for the modern digital industrial era” stated Michelle Bockman, HP’s head of 3D Printing Commercial Expansion and Development.

The NX software is also expected to help avoid time-consuming and expensive data conversions as well as third-party tools. It is also expected to assist in the improvement of the workflow efficiency in the design-to-finished-part. HP and Siemens are also working towards improving the aligning the roadmap to future technology. This will allow engineers and designers to fully reimagine products so as to take advantage of the 3D-printing capabilities that HP offers.

The NX software is also expected to help engineers to come up with new products at a faster pace while avoiding the shortcomings of conventional manufacturing. The two companies believe that this new approach will lead to big opportunities for industrial 3D printing in the future.

Siemens will play a huge part in the initiative because its software module will allow NX clients to bring together various aspects including inspection processes, simulation, optimization and preparation of print jobs for the HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printed parts. Additionally, all this will be carried out within a managed environment. The integration of the Multi Jet Fusion and the NX software will eliminate the need for data conversion between process steps or software applications.

HP stock closed the latest trading session on Thursday at $19.28.
