The Top Reasons Drone Stocks Could Fly to Higher Highs in 2026

Distributed on behalf of ZenaTech.

Drone stocks, like ZenaTech (NASDAQ: ZENA), AeroVironment (NASDAQ: AVAV), Unusual Machines Inc. (NYSEAMERICAN: UMAC), AIRO Group Holdings (NASDAQ: AIRO), and Leonardo DRS Inc. (NASDAQ: DRS) could fly to higher highs in the new year.

All thanks to growing government and business demand, which are helping to fuel a potential $355.55 billion Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) market.

For one, multiple policy directives including President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” unlocks federal funding for domestic production, makes US skies safer by eliminating Chinese-made drones and components, and cuts outdated certification and procurement barriers. There’s also Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s policy directive, Unleashing U.S. Military Drone Dominance, which makes it easier for American drone companies to sell directly to the military, scale production, and innovate without delays.

Plus, there’s beens stronger demand for DaaS.

In fact, look at ZenaTech’s Drone as a Service (DaaS) business model, which is designed to provide business and government clients with on-demand or subscription-based access to faster and superior drone-based services for a host of surveying, inspection, maintenance, power washing, inventory management, and precision agriculture services, without the capital costs or operational burdens of ownership.

The model also eliminates the need to invest in capital costs, pilots, maintenance, and certifications to benefit from the considerable speed, precision, and safety advantages of drones. The company is acquiring established and profitable old-tech service businesses ripe for drone innovation to advance its global vision for a multiservice and multilocation drone business anchored by existing customers and recurring revenue.

Expanding its Footprint, ZenaTech (NASDAQ: ZENA) just Completed Three Acquisitions Accelerating North American Drone-as-a-Service Expansion and Service Capabilities

ZenaTech (NASDAQ: ZENA) just completed three strategic Drone as a Service acquisitions, two in the U.S. and the company’s first Canadian acquisition.

These additions to the company’s holdings further expand the portfolio of DaaS drone-based service offerings, as well as the North American geographic reach and bring the number of completed acquisitions for the year to 19.

The company has now closed Holt Surveying & Mapping, Inc., a seasoned land surveying firm based in Spokane, Washington; Andrew Spiewak Land Surveyor, Inc., a well-established land surveying and engineering firm headquartered in Chicago; and a Halifax-based commercial window washing service firm, representing the company’s inaugural expansion into Canada.

“These acquisitions are instrumental in expanding our global footprint and service offerings across key regions while building a strong foundation of service expertise and customer relationships critical to delivering our superior drone-enabled solutions,” said Shaun Passley, Ph.D., ZenaTech CEO. “Our first Canadian acquisition and first in Illinois mark the beginning new chapters of expansion. Meanwhile we expect our continued expansion in the West, in Washington state and now Idaho, will position us for growth integrating new forestry, power generation, and mining drone-based services, in addition to existing infrastructure, and construction solutions.

PteroDynamics, an innovator in autonomous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft systems, and AeroVironment, Inc., a leading provider of Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities, recently collaborated for a joint technology demonstration at Silent Swarm 25, hosted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center in Alpena, Michigan. The companies integrated multiple industry-leading EW sensors from AV on the PteroDynamics P4 Transwing® autonomous VTOL unmanned aircraft system (UAS), highlighting a spectrum of maneuver capabilities available to warfighters with the combined capabilities. Equipped with AV’s EW capabilities, the autonomous Transwing VTOL aircraft successfully completed three scenarios in operationally relevant, multi-domain environments–observing, detecting, and effecting various representative threats throughout the theater to inform future U.S. Navy operations for littoral surveillance.

This marks the first U.S.-manufactured RQ‑35 systems and a major step forward in the company’s Made‑in‑America expansion strategy. The systems—built to the same specifications as those produced at AIRO’s Denmark facility—completed Phase 1 of the U.S. manufacturing and validation program. This phase encompassed system assembly, including integration of all major components and complete system build-up. The aircraft then underwent a comprehensive flight‑test campaign, concluding with successful final flights on December 11. Joe Burns, CEO of AIRO, said: “Completing the first U.S.-built RQ‑35 systems is a significant milestone for AIRO and a testament to the skill and dedication of our Phoenix and Denmark teams. Their seamless collaboration, rigorous training, and execution will enable us to deliver combat‑proven ISR systems from U.S. soil. This achievement reflects our commitment to our customers, our partners, and our promise to expand reliable, mission‑ready drone production in the United States.”

Leonardo DRS announced the successful first on-orbit test of its revolutionary multi-channel software-defined radio (SDR) with integrated advanced cryptography. This milestone marks a significant advance in validating a technology poised to establish a new standard for secure U.S. military satellite data transport at the tactical edge. The eXtended Crypto Module3-Space (XCM3-Space) adapts the company’s next-generation crypto and multi-channel SDR capabilities to the space domain, addressing emerging cyber and electronic warfare threats to military satellite data transport. Leveraging deep expertise in multi-domain secure tactical communications, Leonardo DRS developed this capability to enable high-performance secure satellite communications across multiple frequencies and networks simultaneously.
