Sprint And Pantaya Announce Video Deal For Spanish Films

Sprint Corp (NYSE:S) and Pantaya have announced a joint effort in which they plan to boost the Pantaya premium streaming platform to deliver Spanish films to millions of viewers.

The joint venture makes Sprint the first carrier to work hand in hand with Pantaya and the streaming company has also launched a 45-day free trial. This will allow customers to test out the feature and enjoy it before they make the final decision to join as a paying subscriber. This will allow potential customers to decide with ease and will potentially lead to an influx of customers for Pantaya, thus providing a win-win situation.

“We’re honored to become the first carrier to work with Pantaya and to provide our customers unparalleled access to Spanish-language movies to stream on their terms,” stated Alberto Lorente, Sprint’s VP of multicultural marketing.

Lorente also noted that his company has witnessed noteworthy growth from members of the Hispanic community who stream content on their mobile devices. He also pointed out that the telecommunications company’s partnership with Pantaya represents their dedication towards meeting the consumer needs as well as providing them with solutions that make it easier to enjoy such services.

The joint project will reportedly require an investment of $1 million and the two companies are planning to raise the funds through an online auction. Some of the items that will be sold via the auction include star-studded film premieres and meet-and-greets and VIP experiences. Pantaya CEO Paul Presburger stated that the Spanish language streaming market has a lot of opportunities to offer. He also added that his company’s streaming platform is designed to exclusively deliver content tailored for this market. Presburger also acknowledged Sprint for the investment into the Latino community as part of its mission to deliver the streaming service.

Customers will be required to pay a small subscription fee of $5.99 per month to continue enjoying the streaming services provided by Pantaya. The service will be available on a variety of platforms including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS devices and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Android devices.

Sprint stock closed the latest trading session on Tuesday at $7.14.
