Stocks on Steep Sale Include AAOI, FIVN, and FSLY

Even before stock markets had a meltdown on Thursday, it demanded exceptional results from companies posting quarterly results. Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOG), and Lumentum (LITE) are examples of firms that posted strong results but fell afterwards.

Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) fell by 21% to $46.89 ahead of its Q3 report. It posted Non-GAAP earnings of $0.17 on revenue of $269.9 million (+127.5% Y/Y). AAOI stock closed down by another 7% in after-hours trading. Despite the strong growth, the firm warned that capacity expansion plans for 2027 in the U.S. will take longer to complete.

AAOI needs to wait for electrical power to come online.

AAOI’s peers are Coherent (COHR), Marvell Technology (MRVL), Ciena (CIEN), Lumentum (LITE) and Credo Technology (CRDO). The price rise in the share prices of those firms is mixed. LITE stock gained 38% YTD while CRDO stock fell by 22%.

Five9 (FIVN) fell by nearly 20% after posting Q3 results. Revenue grew by 13.1% Y/Y to $323.3 million. It earned $0.82 (non-GAAP).

Fastly (FSLY) fell by nearly 27% on Thursday. The company reported revenue of $190.1 million (+20.2% Y/Y). For Q4, total revenue is up to $202 million. Investors worried that Fastly president Scott Lovett’s retirement in 2027 would add uncertainty.

Fastly’s peers include Twilio (TWLO), Cloudflare (NET), Datadog (DDOG), and F5 (FFIV).
