Where is Nordstrom Testing Its 24/7 Curbside Pick-Up?

In a move right out of the playbook of restaurants, upscale retailer Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) says it is going to offer curbside pick-up at 10 select locations across the country from December 16-24, 2017. With the emergence of e-commerce and giants like Amazon, (NASDAQ: AMZN), no one knows exactly what the retail landscape is going to look like in the future, but brick-and-mortar retailers are searching for ways to keep market share by bringing speed and convenience to consumers.

It’s not exactly a new concept for Nordstrom, as the Seattle-based company first gave curbside a go back in 2015, running a program at 20 U.S. stores. A difference this time is that online shoppers will be able to have their order brought to the car at any time of the day during the week up to Christmas Eve morning.

Nordstrom already allows its customers to shop online and pick up their order at one of their physical locations. Now, shoppers won’t even have to get out into the cold or fight crowds to get their goods immediately, even well outside of normal store hours. Gift wrapping is also available.

Shoppers will simply get notification via email that their order has been received along with a phone number to text to let Nordstrom employees know they’re on their way to pick it up.

The locations that will be part of the program are:

Nordstrom Downtown Seattle (Seattle, WA)
Nordstrom Bellevue Square (Bellevue, WA)
Nordstrom Michigan Avenue (Chicago, IL)
Nordstrom Oakbrook Center (Oak Brook, IL)
Nordstrom NorthPark Center (Dallas, TX)
Nordstrom Tysons Corner Center (Mclean, VA)
Nordstrom The Westchester (White Plains, NY)
Nordstrom South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA)
Nordstrom Fashion Valley (San Diego, CA)
Nordstrom Valley Fair (San Jose, CA)

Nordstrom recently said that it plans to hire 13,650 people before the holidays. Elsewhere, the company is reporting the results from the third quarter following Thursday’s closing bell and holding a shareholder call at 4:45 p.m. EST to discuss the report.
