Sirios Cuts 867.1 g/t Gold at Cheechoo in James Bay

Ever since first putting a drill bit in the ground in 2012 at its 73 square-kilometre Cheechoo gold property, Sirios Resources (TSX-V: SOI) has been better defining the resource as it moves towards a more advanced stage. Drill data has delineating a large, low grade gold mineralized envelope extending well over a kilometer in strike length by 300 to 450 metres in width diving more than 340 metres in vertical depth. Tuesday morning, the Montreal-based company said that it has made its best gold intersects to date, building upon results from earlier in the year defining high-grade gold.

More than 70 holes have been drill since last fall at the project, located at Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec, with the best results this year until today ranging up to 41 grams per tonne gold across eight metres.

Sirios said that drill results from the last 15 holes (5,136 metres in total) in the Jordi Zone at Cheechoo were highlighted by a cut of 8.2 metres grading 56.4 g/t gold, including 867.1 g/t gold over 0.5 metres. The company added that every one of the last 15 holes intersected auriferous (gold-bearing rocks), multi-decametric intervals from surface to below 250 metres, with gold grades up to 1.4 grams per tonne.

Other significant high-grade results included 11 g/t across 11.0 metres at a vertical depth of 200 metres and several intersects in excess of 100 g/t gold as part of larger cores.

Assays from six drill holes lent further evidence that the Jordi Zone host wide intervals of lower grade gold as well.

Shares of SOI gapped ahead at Tuesday’s opening bell, jumping three cents from Monday’s 25-cent close to 28 cents, pushing the stock price over its 50-day moving average for the first time since February 9.
