New Solar Initiatives Drives Junior Conglomerate Upward

The solar panel market is continually growing in a manner that is conducive to create a somewhat level playing field for all its competitors. Government grants, high industry costs and the fact that many upstarts have proprietary technology in the blossoming industry joined with supply and demand conflicts give fledgling companies a fighting chance against large industry peers that can be nearly forgotten in other sectors.

Manufacturers are regularly on the hunt for comparable products at low price points, which opens the door to small companies looking to brand their product and name while turning a profit at the same time. Any firm, large or small, that can develop the next cutting edge technology will simply be holding a game changer in their portfolio.

Date provided in a press release by On the Move Systems Corp. (OTCBB:OMVS) today showcases these facts and rapid industry growth. According to their news, the $6-billion solar power market boomed northward by 67% last year. In 2010, investors in the industry jumped in heavily according to research from Bloomberg New Energy Finance which showed investments surged to $41.7 billion, up 22% over 2009.

On the Move Systems is a developmental firm jockeying for position in the solar industry in an attempt to cement its place and build shareholder value in the coming years based on the environmentally-aware trend shift towards replacing energy resources with greener technologies. But…their approach is a bit different than most others.

Leveraging their expertise in the automotive aftermarket electronics sector (which remains a foundation for the Company) and relationship with the University of Texas, the Company is focused on the development of a new, cutting-edge solar technology. As part of their strategies, the Company announced the launch of a major new product development initiative to create the next generation of practical and affordable solar panels which will be spearheaded by developing printable inkjet solar panels for a variety of applications.

Company CEO Chet Gutowsky referred to the OMVS progressive business model as "what’s next", as opposed to the general "me-too" business practices of others that still fight the constraints of industry costs. It’s fair to say that Gutowsky knows a bit about the industry. A third-generation executive in the energy field, he has decades of relevant experience including serving as Manager of Treasury at Fortune 500 company Coastal Corporation, as well as upper-echelon positions at major corporations.

On the Move Systems is indeed looking to personify their corporate name and keep pace with forward thinkers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oregon State University where engineers are already seeing promise in the concept of spray-on components that could potentially replace the need for silicon panels.

The silicon panels, due to their high costs and slower production time, have been a thorn in the side of the industry for many years. Rather than beating heads against the wall to figure out a way to produce silicon panels more efficiently, some firms, such as OMVS, are looking to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.

A thinly-traded stock with only 12 million shares outstanding, shares of OMVS rose Tuesday by 2.89% to $1.78 on light volume of only 17,790 shares. As always, proper due diligence is encouraged.
