Tech firms dominate stock pages these days, but health-care related companies are not far off, with the anticipation of a vaccine to help stop the scourge of COVID-19 which has plagued North America, indeed, the world, much of this year.
In the U.S., health-care-related stocks took on 1.4%, while in Canada, stocks in the sector fell 0.5%. Alas, no Canadian stocks fit the criteria of this column Wednesday.
Westminster, Calif.-based BioLargo, Inc. (OTC:BLGO) is a developer of sustainable technologies and a full-service environmental engineering company. Wednesday, BLGO announced an important milestone in its ongoing efforts to bring to market a safe and effective antiviral disinfectant based on its patented CupriDyne® technology.
The company reports that, in a third-party study out of the University of Texas, a modified CupriDyne formula was shown to cause complete inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 (the COVID-19 virus) in 10 minutes - roughly the same performance observed with highly concentrated bleach.
BLGO shares enjoyed success, growing 5.8% to 18 cents early Wednesday afternoon, on volume of 173,000 shares.
