Reports are circulating this morning that Carol Bartz may become the new CEO of Yahoo (YHOO).
Miss Bartz was CEO of Autodesk (ADSK) from 1992-2006 and is on the board of Cisco Systems (CSCO) along with Jerry Yang. Autodesk is a company that is about half Yahoo's size employee-wise and generates about a third of Yahoo's revenue.
The Bottom Line
The biggest issue with bringing a non-internet CEO has always been the potential culture change that the new person in charge may not be used to. It may be the case that Yahoo is far past those days and this may be a smart move to bring in someone that focuses on execution. Shares of Yahoo lost nearly 50% of their value in 2008. The stock has long-term technical support in the $4.50-5.00 price area. If the shares can begin to strengthen, we see overhead resistance in the $14-18 area. We do not currently rate this non-dividend paying stock.
Yahoo (YHOO) does not currently pay a dividend.
