Splunk Beats, Leaps on Q3 Figures

Splunk Inc (NASDAQ:SPLK) reported upbeat results for its third quarter and raised FY20 sales guidance.

The San Francisco-based Splunk Thursday revealed software revenues were $454 million, up 40% year-over-year, while total revenues were $626 million, up 30% year-over-year.

GAAP operating loss was $47 million; GAAP operating margin was negative 7.6%. The non-GAAP operating income was $106 million; non-GAAP operating margin was 16.8%.

GAAP loss per share was $0.38; non-GAAP income per share was $0.58. Operating cash flow was negative $135 million with free cash flow of negative $162 million.

Said CEO Doug Merritt, "Splunk continues to show the world how our Data-to-Everything Platform is uniquely positioned to bring data to every question, decision and action.

"Whether through our groundbreaking innovations like Splunk® Data Fabric Search and Splunk Data Stream Processor or aggressive acquisition strategy, Splunk is transforming the way our customers around the world turn data into doing."

Recently, the company has been in the midst of taking on new members… a lot of them. Splunk signed 440 new enterprise customers.

Those new clients include Airbus Defence and Space, Carnival Cruise Lines, Lloyds Banking Group, Monash University, Takeda Pharmaceuticals and Xcel Energy

For the future, the company has offered guidance of fiscal fourth-quarter 2020.

Total revenues are expected to be approximately $780 million. Non-GAAP operating margin is expected to be approximately 23%.

"Splunk technology" read Thursday’s press release, "is designed to investigate, monitor, analyze and act on data at any scale."

Shares hiked $8.57, or 6.8%, to $135.41
