Apple Unveils New iPad Pro Tablet With 5G Capability

Consumer electronics giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has unveiled a new iPad Pro tablet with 5G wireless internet capability that’s aimed at workers and students returning to offices and schools.

The latest iPad Pro comes with a faster processor, 5G connectivity, upgraded screen and new cameras, offering a more powerful version of the company’s most expensive tablet. The new models come in the same 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes as the previous version, and they include the company’s M1 microchip processor.

The iPad Pro was the centrepiece of Apple’s latest product event. The iPad generated $8.4 billion U.S. in revenue during the fourth quarter of 2020, the most since 2014. Sales jumped on demand from people working and studying at home during the pandemic. The Cupertino, California-based company is betting that the latest upgrades will maintain interest in the tablet.

The new iPad Pro goes on sale April 30th and will be priced at $799 U.S. for the 11-inch model. The 12.9-inch version with the MiniLED screen will start at $1,099 U.S. Models that are 5G-capable will cost extra, and storage tiers will range to as much as two terabytes for the first time.

Other products unveiled by Apple at the product event include an Apple TV box and remote, a purple-coloured iPhone 12 and iMac computers that run on Apple’s M1 microchip.
