Research In Motion’s (T.RIM, NASDAQ: RIMM) VP of developer relations has confirmed that more than 15,000 BlackBerry 10 apps were recently submitted to BlackBerry App World in less than two days.
As part of a virtual event RIM hosted called a "Port-A-Thon," the vendor encouraged developers to port their apps over to the BlackBerry 10 platform by offering a $100 U.S. incentive for each submitted app that is later approved by RIM for distribution in its app store.
This can be considered good news or bad news, however. While ensuring that BlackBerry App World is flush with BlackBerry 10 apps when the platform launches is crucial, apps submitted en masse by developers looking for a reward of $100 per approved app might not be the kind of high-quality apps RIM so desperately needs when BlackBerry 10 devices begin launching in the coming months.
