Consumer electronics giant Apple (AAPL) is expected to unveil a slimmer iPhone at its annual event that showcases the company’s latest devices.
The company is also expected to announce a less expensive iPhone 17 model. However, analysts are anticipating only incremental upgrades to the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Apple is expected to introduce an entirely new foldable iPhone and a revamped Siri digital assistant armed with artificial intelligence (A.I.) in 2026.
For now, consumers and investors will have to content themselves with a slimmer iPhone that is tentatively called the “Air” model.
The annual event, held by Apple each September, comes amid heightened scrutiny over the company’s A.I. strategy and as U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs add more than $1 billion U.S. to its annual costs.
Analysts are watching closely to see whether Apple raises prices to offset the tariff costs or lowers them to attract consumers and drive sales.
Apple is also being watched for any A.I. updates to its products.
Specifically, analysts are watching to see whether Apple, which has tapped ChatGPT creator OpenAI as a partner, adds any A.I. features to its operating system.
AAPL stock has declined 3% this year to trade at $237.88 U.S. per share.
