Google’s Gemini Surpasses ChatGPT To Take Top Spot In App Store

Gemini, the artificial intelligence (A.I.) product from Google parent company Alphabet, has surpassed ChatGPT to take the top spot in Apple’s (AAPL) App Store.

Gemini is now the most downloaded free app in the App Store, surpassing ChatGPT, which has led the A.I. boom of the last several years.

The Gemini AI model has received several recent updates that have attracted new users, including an updated version of its “Flash” model, called 2.5 Flash Image.

The app now allows users to combine multiple photos, edit them, and even create digital figurines of photos.

The upgraded Flash model helped bring in 13 million new users to the Gemini app in less than a week, according to Alphabet, and vault it to the top of Apple’s App Store.

At the end of July this year, the Gemini app had more than 450 million monthly active users.

Alphabet’s improving A.I. products have also given the company’s stock a boost. Earlier this week, Alphabet became the fourth company to achieve a $3 trillion U.S. market capitalization.

GOOGL stock is now up 33% this year and trading at $251.16 U.S. per share.
