Siddhant Awasthi, who led electric vehicle maker Tesla’s (TSLA) Cybertruck program, is leaving the company after eight years.
Awasthi, who started his career at Tesla as an intern, oversaw the Cybertruck program, shepherding it from the engineering phase to mass-scale production.
Most recently, Awasthi oversaw product strategy, quality enhancements, and supply chain management of the Cybertruck.
In addition to heading the Cybertruck division, he also took on leadership of Tesla’s Model 3 electric sedan this summer.
Awasthi announced his departure from Tesla on social media, without disclosing where he is headed next.
Tesla posted record deliveries of the Cybertruck in this year’s third quarter, driven by U.S. buyers trying to take advantage of a $7,500 U.S. tax credit before it expired on Sept. 30.
However, sales of the Cybertruck have faced challenges in recent years, with Tesla offering thousands of dollars in discounts to move excess inventory.
Cybertrucks also experienced a U.S. recall in March of this year, impacting 46,096 vehicles that were produced between November 2023 and the start of 2025.
TSLA stock has gained 13% this year to trade at $429.52 U.S. per share.
