Verizon Notes Revenue Boost

Verizon Communication Inc. (NYSE: VZ), the largest U.S. wireless service provider, reported a 5% rise in quarterly revenue as heavy promotions helped attract postpaid subscribers.

The net income attributable to the company rose to $4.04 billion U.S., or 99 cents per share, in the third quarter ended Sept. 30 from $3.70 billion U.S., or 89 cents U.S. per share, a year earlier.

Total operating revenue rose to $33.16 billion U.S. from $31.59 billion U.S.

Verizon shares began Tuesday's trading up 30 cents, or 0.7%, from Monday's close at $45.00 U.S., in a 52-week trading range from $38.06 U.S. to $51.73 U.S.
