Labour Force Survey (Sept.) Following two months of increases, employment fell by 52,000 in August. Part-time employment declined by 92,000 while full-time employment edged up. At the same time, the unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points to 6.0%
Canadian international merchandise trade (Aug.) Canada's merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from $743 million in June to $114 million in July, the smallest deficit since the most recent surplus in December 2016. Exports increased 0.8%, while imports declined 0.4%.
