Wholesale Trade (May) Wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) rose 0.6% in April.
Monthly Survey of Manufacturing (May) Manufacturing sales increased 4.2% in April, mainly driven by increased sales of petroleum and coal as well as food products. Meanwhile, sales in the primary metal subsector posted the largest decline.
BoC Interest Rate Decision (July – 9:45 a.m. EDT) The Bank of Canada held its target for the overnight rate at 2.25%, with the Bank Rate at 2.5% and the deposit rate at 2.20%.
New Motor Vehicle Sales (May) There were 183,921 new motor vehicles sold in Canada in April, decreasing 6.0% from April 2025. In dollar terms, sales decreased 1.7% in April 2026 compared with one year earlier. Over the same period, the number of new trucks sold decreased (-6.4%), while the number of new passenger cars sold experienced a smaller decline (-2.7%).
