Why Brookfield Is A Top Dividend Stock For Income Investors

Brookfield Asset Management (TSX:BAM.A)(NYSE:BAM) is a large-cap blue-chip Canadian stock providing investors with exposure to the broad Canadian economy through the company’s core holdings.

This is a mega conglomerate of sorts, with many often comparing this company to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A) in the U.S., as the investing methodologies are similar across these companies. Brookfield looks for value wherever it may lie, making this a proxy for an active fund, in my opinion, allowing investors to own a quasi-active fund with a 0% MER- not a bad deal.

The company announced earnings around a month ago, reporting good results with an earnings beat, and also announced a stock split which tends to benefit retail investors, a group the company relies on from an investment standpoint, as its investment base has remained strong over the years.

The company’s dividend has increased by 12% over the past year, as Brookfield’s management team continues to deliver on providing shareholder value and returning more capital to shareholders over time. From both a growth and income perspective, Brookfield has continued to be viewed positively, approximately doubling over the past five years.

Brookfield has continued to make investments in a number of sectors that have turned out to be growth sectors given the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) movement. The company’s increased renewables exposure has served investors well, in particular.

With a very strong dividend, and a double-digit dividend growth rate, Brookfield is an excellent company income-oriented investors ought to consider for a long-term position in their portfolios.

Invest wisely, my friends.
