The top man at BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB) is leaving the company after less than a year in the top job.
In a news release, BlackBerry said that Bryan Palma, the president and COO, is leaving the company to pursue other career opportunities after starting in the position in January of this year. Palma was responsible for the company's core products and services, including connected cars, smart speakers and its Internet of Things (IoT) strategy.
Waterloo, Ont.-based BlackBerry says the IoT business will now report directly to Chief Executive Officer John Chen.
Since September, BlackBerry's stock has plunged 23% after its second-quarter revenue fell short of analyst expectations. The company has announced several new senior appointments in recent months, including a new Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Revenue Officer.
