3 Ways to Never Pay for Food Again

There aren’t many things that taste better than a free meal. It’s not quite a scientific fact, but I’ll bet most of the people reading this will back me up.

Food is likely one of your biggest expenses, too. Which means we could all use a little break. And what better way to save on food costs than eating for free?

One of the easiest ways to get free food is to visit Costco. Many spendthrifts hail the virtues of the so-called "Costco lunch," which consists of walking around and hitting up all the free samples. Feel free to visit the best ones twice. They won’t mind.

Another effortless way to eat for free is to join as many restaurant loyalty programs as possible. Most will include a free appetizer, dessert, or even an entrée as a birthday gift. Ignore the ones that make you go on the actual date of your birthday in favor of the ones that give more flexibility.

Finally, if you live in a city, keep your eye out for promotional events that include free food. Financial service seminars are especially well known for offering food, mostly because giving a gift beforehand greatly increases the chances of converting a prospect into a sale. Don’t give into their sales tactics or it renders the whole exercise moot.

The internet makes finding these events relatively easy. Just search one of the many event sites (like Eventbrite here in Canada), sort by free, and click on anything interesting. You can also keep an eye out for more traditional forms of advertising, like flyers on bulletin boards or roadside signs.
