Canadians took home more pay in June, however marginal the increase was.
Figures released Thursday morning by Statistics Canada revealed that average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $958.00 in June, up 0.4% from the previous month. Compared with 12 months earlier, the agency adds, average weekly earnings increased 0.5%.
The nation's number crunchers report the change in weekly earnings reflects a number of factors, including wage growth, changes in the composition of employment by industry, occupation, and level of job experience, as well as average hours worked per week.
Non-farm payroll employees worked an average of 33.0 hours per week in June, up from 32.9 hours per week in May and unchanged from 12 months earlier.
