OPEC Uncertainty Keeps Futures Flat

TransCanada, Katanga in Focus


Futures for Canada's main stock index were little changed on Monday, as oil prices eased ahead of a meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries next week.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index advanced 63.2 points to end Friday and the week at 15,998.67

The Canadian dollar inched up 0.06 cents at 78.21 cents U.S. Monday morning.

December futures eked up 0.04% Monday.

Nebraska regulators will announce their decision on Monday on whether to approve TransCanada Corp’s Keystone XL pipeline route through the state, the last big hurdle for the long-delayed project.

Glencore Plc said on Monday it had identified material weaknesses in the internal controls for financial reporting at Katanga Mining Ltd., in which the London-listed miner has a majority.

Canaccord Genuity cut the price target on Asanko Gold to $1 from $2.50

Barclays raised the target price on Canadian Natural Resources to $41 from $38

National Bank of Canada raised the target price on Enerflex Ltd. to $19 from $18.50

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly lower open Monday, as investors turned their attention to the latest in earnings and data

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained seven points to 23,323

S&P 500 futures inched up 0.25 points at 2,576.50, while futures on the NASDAQ Composite index took on 6.25 points, or 0.1%, to 6,319.50

In earnings, Agilent, Intuit, ZTO Express, Noah Holdings and Urban Outfitters are some of the companies set to publish their latest figures.

Looking to data, leading economic indicators are due out at 10 a.m. ET, while the U.S Treasury is set to auction off two separate bills.

Overseas, European stocks fluctuated as investors viewed political instability in Germany, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.6%, and in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index gained 0.6%.

Oil prices dipped 31 cents to $56.24 U.S. per barrel.

Gold prices fell $3.50 to $1,293 U.S. an ounce.
