The Bank of Canada has named Nicolas Vincent its new deputy governor.

Vincent, an economics professor at business school HEC Montreal, will serve at Canada’s central bank for a two-year term.

The Bank of Canada's governing council is responsible for setting monetary policy and is focused on financial stability.

Vincent will also communicate with the media and general public about the central bank's policy decisions and outlook for the Canadian economy.

Vincent will start in his new role at the Bank of Canada on March 13 of this year.
