Are you thinking of making a career change? The evidence suggests that you’ll be glad you did.
A new survey has found that nine out of 10 Canadians (90%) who made a career change say they're happier since switching direction.
The research polled 1,023 randomly selected full-time workers from a variety of industries and education levels across Canada and found that 38% of people had made a complete career change at some point in their life. Another 35% said they were either currently considering switching careers or have contemplated doing so.
Of those respondents who have made a career switch, 87% said they are happier since making the change. The poll also found that better pay was the most common reason respondents changed careers, with 63% citing it as their main motivation. But 57% of those who changed careers said they did so because they wanted more opportunity for professional growth.
The study was conducted by Censuswide between October 28 and November 1 and the margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20
