U.S. Consumer Sentiment Fades in November

Consumer sentiment for November in the United States fell more than anticipated in the final reading of the month, although the index remained near record highs.

The University of Michigan's monthly survey of consumers slipped to 97.5 in final November reading, more than the fall to 98.3 expected by economists. The key economic indicator hit 98.6 in October's final reading.

The index has been on a losing streak since March when it reached its highest level since 2004 with a reading of 101.4.

The survey considers 500 consumers' outlook on economic prospects, accounting for sentiment on personal finances, inflation, unemployment, government policies and interest rates.
