Stocks to Gain at Outset

Bombardier, Lithium Americas in Focus

Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada's main stock index on Tuesday, as oil prices rebounded on reports of lower output from the world's largest oil producers.

The TSX Composite Index dropped 35.64 points to end Monday, the month of September and the third calendar quarter at 16,658.63

The Canadian dollar removed 0.19 cents to 75.33 cents U.S. early Tuesday

December futures picked up 0.2% early Tuesday.

The TSX Venture Exchange slumped 10.9 points, or 1.9%, to close Monday at 558.68

ON WALLSTREET

U.S. stock index futures were trading higher on Tuesday morning.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 50 points, or 0.2%, early Tuesday to 26,951

Futures for the S&P 500 grabbed six points, or 0.2%, at 2,984.50

NASDAQ Composite improved 21 points, or 0.3% to 7,791.50

On the earnings front, Stitch Fix is set to report after the bell.

On the data front, manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index numbers will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET; construction spending figures will be out at 10 a.m. ET.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday on the back of renewed optimism in U.S.-China trade talks. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Treasury said the White House "is not contemplating blocking Chinese companies from listing shares on U.S. stock exchanges at this time."

The remarks relieved some earlier fears raised by reports last week that the U.S. has been looking at restricting U.S. investments in China.
Overseas, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.6% Tuesday, while in Hong Kong, markets were shuttered for holiday

Oil prices picked up 42 cents to $54.49 U.S. a barrel.

Gold prices improved $1.40 to $1,474.30 U.S. an ounce.
