In Korea, the Kospi returned after a long weekend to jettison 108.11 points, or 1.6%, to 6,869.83.
In Singapore, the Straits Times index dropped 67.06 points, or 1.6%, to 5,701.40.
In Taiwan, the Taiex index withered 548.59 points, or 1.2%, to 45,308.68
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 recovered 144.2 points, or 1.1%, to 13,866.18
In Australia, the ASX lost 3.14 points to 9,070.04.
