Top Climate Stocks to Consider Heading into New Year 2023

With a new $370 billion clean energy and climate deal, keep an eye on green stocks heading into New Year 2023. Analysis “suggests the measures would reduce US carbon emissions by up to 40% by 2030. Strong climate regulations from the Biden administration and action from states would be needed to get to Biden’s goal of cutting emissions 50% by 2030,” says CNN. “The bill also contains many tax incentives meant to bring down the cost of electricity with more renewables, and spur more American consumers to switch to electricity to power their homes and vehicles.” That could also be beneficial for companies, such as Northstar Clean Technologies (TSXV: ROOF) (OTCQB: ROOOF), which is focused on the sustainable recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles. Other shingles stocks to be aware of in the market include Owens Corning (NYSE: OC), Lowe’s Companies (NYSE: LOW), Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (NASDAQ: BECN), and Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD).

Look at Northstar Clean Technologies Inc. (TSXV: ROOF) (OTCQB: ROOOF) For Example

Northstar Clean Technologies Inc. announced the first collection of previously landfill bound asphalt shingles at the Company’s asphalt shingle reprocessing facility in Delta, British Columbia.

While the Company has been producing saleable quantities of liquid asphalt for some time now from its on-site shingle inventory and having received its Brokering License from Metro Vancouver (as previously announced by the Company on August 3, 2022), the Company has now fully commissioned its digital weigh scale and is able to collect shingles. The processing of the first truck of asphalt shingles means the shingle collection process is operational. The Company expects to work with local partners to ramp up collection activities at the Empower Pilot Facility.

Mr. Aidan Mills, President & CEO and Director of Northstar, stated “This is an exciting milestone for Northstar and our stakeholders, as it marks the start of diverting discarded asphalt shingles from the Vancouver landfill to our Empower Pilot Facility, allowing them to enter the circular economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from liquid asphalt production. We will work with our industry partners to increase shingle collection at the Empower Pilot Facility. This is an important step for our business model, as it will mark our ability to collect tipping fees, an important revenue stream for the business.”

Owens Corning took an important step toward reaching its circular economy aspiration with the announcement of enhanced shingle recycling efforts. We are focused on bringing these breakthrough solutions to life as a critical next chapter of work in our sustainability journey,” said David Rabuano, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. “Our mission is to build a sustainable future through material innovation, and with this enhanced focus on shingle recycling we continue to make progress.”
