Cannabis Company Tilray To Close B.C. Production Facility

Canadian cannabis producer Tilray (TSX:TLRY), which merged with Aphria earlier this year, says it is closing an office and facility in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

The company says it is closing the facilities to optimize operational efficiencies and save costs following the merger.

The company did not share how many workers will be impacted by the closures but said it will work with those interested in opportunities at its Broken Coast facility on Vancouver Island.

Tilray says the closures will roll out in phases and is expected to be completed by spring 2022.

Tilray's Nanaimo facility was home to a grow room, trimming room, extracts laboratory and packaging operations.

Tilray says B.C. cultivation will now take place at its Broken Coast site and that it will continue to make use of facilities in Leamington and London, Ontario and in Portugal and Germany.
