Apple Not Likely To Make Many Changes to iPhone 7

According to a report published on MarketWatch, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is not likely to make many changes to its iPhone 7. The report, citing people familiar with the matter, said that the company plans to break away from its recent pattern of making major changes to the design of iPhone every two years. The iPhone 7 is expected to be released with only subtle changes, according to sources.

Sources told MarketWatch that the new phones will maintain the existing 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch displays. The biggest change planned by Apple in the new phones is the removal of the headphone plug. These features will make the new iPhone thinner and also improve the phone’s water resistance. The sources also said that the Lightning connector will have dual purpose. It will serve as a port for charging the phone, as well as a connector for headphones.

MarketWatch, citing KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, said that the new features are likely to mean that the upcoming phone will be one millimeter thinner than the current version of the iPhone.

The MarketWatch report added that big changes to the iPhone could come in 2017, which will also mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.
