What You Need To Know About The Upcoming Apple Car

There’s a reason why Apple (NASDAQ: APPL) hasn’t come up with much of anything buzzworthy in the past few months. According to industry insiders, the company is putting most of its resources towards its biggest project yet, the Apple Car.

Here’s what we currently know about the potentially revolutionary new product.

Apple has redirected hundreds of employees to a secret location near its headquarters in Cupertino, California, on what’s being called "Project Titan" internally. It was originally headed by Steve Zadesky, but he has since left the company.

Sources have indicated the car will resemble a crossover SUV or a minivan, possibly similar to Tesla’s Model X. It also appears likely the car will have a full electric engine after Apple poached several employees from a company that specializes in batteries for electric vehicles.

Reports are somewhat conflicting about whether or not the car will have self-driving technology. Latest rumors suggest the first models won’t have full autopilot capabilities, but much can change in the world of technology in just a few short years.

Apple has reportedly tagged Canadian auto parts Magna as the manufacturer of the Apple Car after failing to get deals done with several top auto manufacturers like BMW and Daimler.

Perhaps most important is the release date. At this point, it looks like geeks everywhere will have to be patient, with the car not looking likely to be released to consumers before 2019 or 2020.
