Labour Force Survey (Oct.) Employment rose by 67,000, or 0.4%, in September, with most of the increase in part-time work. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.0%, as more people participated in the labour market.
International Merchandise Trade (Sept.) Canada's exports increased 0.6% to $43.4 billion in August, while imports were largely unchanged at $45.3 billion. As a result, Canada's merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from $2.2 billion in July to $1.9 billion in August.
