Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Launches Platform For Crypto Trading

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), Israel's only public index, has launched a blockchain-based digital asset trading platform.

In a news release, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange said it is aiming to “promote the implementation of innovative technologies” with the new trading platform that focuses on digital coins and tokens.

Countries worldwide are increasingly incorporating elements of the technologies that underpin cryptocurrencies into market infrastructure.

The European Union (EU) has approved a similar pilot project to the one in Israel related to the trading of cryptocurrency assets.

Israeli regulators have been supportive of regulated cryptocurrency trading activity in the country. Earlier this year, Israel’s capital markets regulator handed out its first license for cryptocurrency service providers.

Additionally, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is working with Israel’s Ministry of Finance to issue a blockchain-based state bond.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is down 6% year to date.
