Twitter Now Lets Users Trade Stocks And Crypto

Social media platform Twitter has partnered with online trading company eToro to let users trade stocks and cryptocurrencies.

A new feature is now available on the Twitter app that allows users to view market charts on an expanded range of financial instruments and buy and sell stocks and crypto through eToro.

Twitter users can go directly from the social media app to eToro’s website where they can buy and sell securities with the click of a button.

The partnership is part of Twitter’s efforts to expand into the world of finance following Elon Musk’s $44 billion U.S. purchase of the social media company last October.

Founded in 2007, eToro is an online brokerage that lets users buy and sell stocks, crypto such as Bitcoin (BTC), and index funds. The company has more than 32 million users worldwide.

Under Musk’s leadership, Twitter has cut staffing to 1,500 from 8,000 to reduce costs and reach profitability.

Musk has said he wants to turn Twitter into a “super app,” offering services such as instant messaging, banking and travel.

At a conference in March of this year, Musk said he wants Twitter to become “the biggest financial institution in the world.”

Both Twitter and eToro are privately held companies.
