Chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA) has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (A.I) model targeted at robots.
The new model arrives as Nvidia pushes further into the physical A.I. market in Japan, where robots are being developed that run on artificial intelligence.
The company’s new model, called “Cosmos 3 Edge,” is a so-called “world model” that’s designed to help systems perceive and navigate physical environments in real time.
Cosmos 3 Edge can learn from a wider range of inputs than conventional large language models (LLMs) that are used to train A.I.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is in Japan, where the company is forming a coalition with industrial giants Fujitsu (FJTSY), Hitachi (HTHIY), and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KWHIY).
“The next frontier of A.I. is in the physical world, and this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Japan,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a written statement.
Japan’s A.I. market is expected to reach $27.9 billion U.S. by 2029, opening opportunities for U.S. companies to invest. The Government of Japan is pushing A.I. adoption across industries.
Nvidia is also expanding it’s A.I. footprint into Japan’s healthcare and biotechnology sectors by extending its reach into drug discoveries and medical / surgical robots.
NVDA stock has risen 24% in the last 12 months to trade at $212.50 U.S. per share.
